Math Video & Bible Verses

Here's our newest math video for the students to take notes on for our class on Monday. I've had mostly positive feedback from the students on our last flipped lesson, so we'll be doing a number of them in the coming week!

Also, I was asked to put our Bible verses on the blog:

1 Corinthians 13:1-7New International Version (NIV)

13 If I speak with the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Pictures of Progress

The students have created some fantastic projects, read a lot, and performed a good deal of skits during the past month: here are a few highlights:

Students rated their books this past month based on emojis.

Magen, the animal trainer, discusses her pet squirrel Genevieve.

Sophia's Norway display board

Magen created a mini display board using a manila folder to show all of her information on the UK.

Ella's "travel guide" to Russia

Evan's Snoopy photos are also being sent to the military in our care packages.

Math Video - Lesson 30

The first in a series of "flipped" lessons, this video (which students can either watch during free time in school or at home) will provide the lesson that I would normally teach in class.

Students should have their math resource notebook in which to take notes, and the video will tell them exactly what they need to write down.

Then, in class, we will work together and students will work independently with the new concept, based on how well they understand it. This method allows me to get more one-on-one time with students who need it, and allows students who feel confident to move forward.

Students may watch the video on here, or directly on YouTube.
